   wow, it was all about the type of paper!?
   
   This looks exactly like the photos in the blog I followed. The gray colour is because there are paper fibers and chalk stuck to the toner.
   
   The big question is, how will this etch?

     @natevw it's difficult, the printer doesn't want to deposit a thick enough layer of toner, even with +6 density. It also can't properly print on transparencies or the chinese glossy paper. This is semi-glossy magazine paper and I had to use a print pattern like this, with more copies it got smeared. I'm yet to see if it works (the new technique here is acetone-based cold transfer) - I expect over-etching and holes in traces

     @piggo wait, is *this* off a Brother laser?! old internet lore said it wouldn't work well with those and so I never even bothered trying — that looks nice 🤩

     @natevw i have done some boards with it before, with the yellow paper and a laminator. If you have many copies, usually one is almost OK and the rest is fixed with a sharpie. Not good but you get the job done.
     
     I'm now also looking into trying UV resist with it, but I have to wait for mr chinaman to send the material

     @piggo ok, yeah that's basically the rationale I found online but seems like it's not a total showstopper, best of luck!
