Every few months I revisit the idea of starting a "legacy IT" consultancy.
Got an old database on Windows 98? No worries, I'll look at virtualising it and surrounding it with security.
Really need to keep the hardware running? OK, I'll track down some ISA card cold spares, image the hard drive and replace it with something newer.
Serial comms to legacy machinery? I'll test RS232 cards and USB adapters.
Or maybe we can make something?
Sometimes maintenance makes more sense than replacement.
