@verita84 Probably not too bad, just make sure you mount by UUID /dev/disk/by-uuid/) and not the letter assigned to the drive (like /dev/sdb), also obviously make sure you're on USB3 for all the drives so you're not bottlenecked at the bus.

@verita84 That is one way Windows is better for sure, their RDP is way simpler than any of the Linux VNC solutions right now.

@graf @verita84 I can't fault the price, and the reviews are good, but I just remember seeing their flash drives on Newegg for extremely cheap but with tons of 1-star reviews from them breaking all the time. I'm guessing their SSDs are probably ripped off from a more reliable design or something. Might pick one up for HTPC or something like that.

@verita84 @spitfire That's just a discipline thing. Whether you create containers or services directly on the host, you have to document it or you're going to forget (even if you say you won't, I know).

I like to keep a local git repo with Markdown files, and each time I do some infrastructure stuff, I add a new file (or add to a previous one if appropriate, e.g. if modifying or adding to a service) and document it all there.

Then that serves as a starting point for writing Ansible playbooks and/or roles later on if I find myself doing the same thing often.

Windows biggest failure for me was creating my own services that ran without being logged in. The best solution I found was to use nssm.

Once reason why the switch back Docker is record keeping. Makes it easier to keep track. I did not have many configs in order and backed up right doing things directly on the host lol

Are you using win 10 or a real server OS? I loved playing with server core and the windows explorer add on. Most enterprises are so lazy they don’t bother to use server core because the admins are boomers. After a while you don’t bother with rdp anymore and it’s all remote power shell. Next thing you know you’re back on Linux. :alittletrolling:
