I'm reading the indictment (thanks, @FredKiesche!).
It's truly astonishing.

@lumpley I am told it's surprisingly readable by laypeople! Not sure how much of that is the style of indictments in general and how much is the drafters trying extra hard to get public understanding and buy-in, given the subject matter. @FredKiesche
@lumpley Started reading and oh wow, the writing really is remarkably accessible and clear. "The claims were false, and the Defendant knew that they were false." That's more talk-to-jurors language than legal-memo-to-judge language, perhaps understandably since indictments are at least formally from grand juries.
Also why is "It's my first indictment" so funny out of context xD @FredKiesche
@ljwrites Yeah, it's quite readable. It's my first indictment, so I wouldn't know whether they're all like this, but this one at least — it's clear and just very practical writing.
I'd definitely recommend checking it out. It's worth the time.
