    Consider "Hey Black people! Don't be on Twitter! They hate you more!"
    Vs "Let's make the Fediverse better!"

    Consider "Hey Black people! Don't vote GOP! They hate you more!"
    Vs "Let's undo the systemic racism in the Dem party!"

    Consider "Hey African countries! Don't trust Russia and China! They hate you more!"
    Vs "Let's start truly partnering with Africa!"

    If you were Black, you would see through the self-serving message, so it's strange that folks don't get that Black folk see through it too.

      @mekkaokereke
      What really is the point of pointing that out anyway I've always wondered. Because it really feels like a "shut up and just take it" kind of attitude, as if black people are not allowed to demand better from everyone else. Sometimes harm reduction is not enough, especially in the long term, people have fought long enough, it's far past time for more systemic change.

      I'm not even going to address the point of if the experience for Black folk truly is significantly worse under the other option.

      In some cases it definitely is objectively much worse, but I'm not even talking about that. I'm talking about the extreme reluctance to even talk about making the alternative that's being advocated for, better.

      I'm very sure that even In this thread, there will be replies obliviously trying to turn attention back to how bad the alternatives are. 🤷🏿♂️
