We've finally had a calm enough year that we could sit down and ask ourselves, "what's our best option going forward?", rather than move our family around based on what friends and family had space to accept freeloaders desperately seeking work.
Charlotte, NC truly appears to be a good fit, but one of the reasons we are moving has claws in us to prevent it: lack of work. In Charlotte there is work for my wife, good schools, family support for the kids, and opportunity to get me working as well.
We unfortunately can't rent until we pay what we owe to our last apartment, where our subletters couldn't pay the last month or reletting fee, leaving us on the hook for $2200. Between that and the cost of renting a new place, our hope of moving in time for the new school year is slim.
We know this is a huge ask, but we ask it for our daughter to have the best entry into public education she possibly can, not for ourselves.
