   Pinned posts let you explain a bit more about yourself, including attaching images, video or audio. You can pin up to five posts on a single account.

   Pinned posts also have the advantage that they're "backfilled". This means that everyone who browses your profile will see them, even if their server hasn't noticed your account before.

     Artists might want to include their works for example? You don't have to attach anything though!

     When I've mentioned pinned posts in the past, people have asked what the point is when they have a profile text anyway. The advantages are being able to include attachments, write longer text and prevent your profile looking blank.

     @feditips Who cares if I explain more about myself and include pictures? This isn't much of a dating site where I expect to find someone who is interested in me as a person.

     Posts don't transfer when you migrate.

     They remain on your old instance, but when people click on your account's name on the old post it will redirect them to your new account.

     @feditips hmm.. looks like pinned posts are lost when you migrate instance. I’m sure I used to have a few pinned, but no longer do.
