   I find the Spy Kids movies kinda charming. They are like a really lame home video that the kids would make playing around with a video camera. But their parents just happen to be massive Hollywood superstars. I really appreciate that Robert Rodriguez would be willing to risk his career to do something like that.

     @Sophistifunk yes, but they usually make it for kids, not with kids.

     @Sophistifunk actually you know what, I might be getting it mixed up with shark boy and lava girl. Where Rodriguez' 7yo son has a writing credit. But it turns out it's was his brother that helped write spy kids, not his son. My point beng is it feels really amateur and home made.

     @ned when I rented Desperado years ago it came with an extra short that Rodriguez directed as a child in 8 mm. It was thematically related to Desperado but apparently as a child he would make 8 mm movies using his siblings as actors and tried to tell a story so it's something he's done all his life and figured it would relate to other kids today
