Most bigots don't use slurs.
But they will harass you for no reason.
They will disregard your boundaries.
They will sea lion you for info that is easy to find.
They will attempt to insult you but call it a 'joke' and blame you for being 'too sensitive.'
They will invite their friends to dogpile and flood your timeline with nonsense.
They will gaslight and try to make you believe what you're seeing/feeling isn't real.
But most will not use slurs because they know that's what most people are looking for.
Pay attention to behavior. Using slurs is just the tip of the tip of the iceberg when it comes to identifying hateful people.

TheBird (thebird@ni.hil.ist)'s status on Thursday, 27-Jul-2023 07:18:03 JST TheBird Yup. Some people are just evil.
It's also really insulting for those with mental unwellness. Being mentally ill doesn't make one a bigot, nor should someone's bigoted actions be given a pass if they do have a mental illness.
Being a fucking bigot makes one a bigot.
People using mental illness as a 'get-out-of-bigotry' card irritate the fuck out of me. No.
Don't be a bigot.

Hermes (gordonisenburg@mastodon.social)'s status on Thursday, 27-Jul-2023 07:18:05 JST Hermes Over-reaction is a key to mental disabilities being a problem. Look for cues when dealing with anyone. It is easy to recognize when a person has drifted off track. Hyperemotional response, having nothing to do with what you are talking about with said person. Veering off-topic. This is a sure sign you are communicating with an unstable individual. Bigotry is perhaps the best tell. It is illogical and has no basis in reality/logic.
