   1/5 black people in Florida have been convicted of "a felony"-- (we should talk about how this alone is absurd.)

   At one time having a felony on your record would make you ineligible to vote.

   The people of Florida passed a law saying they felons who served their time could vote.

   Ron DeSantis decided if there were any unpaid fines, they could be *sent to prison* for voting. It's hard to find out if you have any unpaid fines.

   This is just Jim Crow all over again.

     even now laws that are supposedly for everyone, mostly get implemented on Black people. Like drugs. If they never go after white people, white people pass as innocent, when their brutality and rampant drug use is just permitted.

     Jim Crow laws didn't always say things like "Black people can't do X" They didn't always mention race explicitly-- you can easily craft racist laws without mentioning race.

     Exactly. It's just a coincidence that POC wait on average for multiple hours in Atlanta to vote, while white voters in their districts stroll in and vote in an hour or less. It's only when someone like Stacy Abrams galvanizes voter registration, that the fist of white power comes out of the velvet glove, and they criminalize giving water to people of color waiting in line.
