So while the rebrand was probably necessary it seems someone didn't do their due diligence.
The word "Firefish" is a trademark of the company "Firefish Software Ltd", registered with the European Union Intellectual Property Office since 2015 in the realms of Computer Software which ths Firefish definitely is.
You can search the EUIPO's database of trademarks [here](https://euipo.europa.eu/eSearch/) with [info about the specific mark here](https://euipo.europa.eu/eSearch/#details/trademarks/013331756).
Unfortunately as it stands, using the "Firefish" mark puts the owners of Firefish instances run within the EU at risk of costly legal ramifications as Firefish almost definitely [falls under class 9 and/or 42](https://euipo.europa.eu/ec2/search/find?language=en&text=website&niceClass=&size=25&page=1&harmonised=true&searchMode=WORDSPREFIX&sortBy=relevance), which the given trademark application applies to. (There's an argument to be made that "social media" can fall under a separate category, but it's vague and definitely not worth the risk)
I'm not entirely sure how y'all should go about rectifying this but uh. Not looking good.
