     @unabomber @keith All the Baofengs are basically the same. Actual transmitted power on the "8-watt" models is more like 5.5-6 watts, and the "5-watt" models is more like 4.
     
     You can get a nicer one if it makes you feel better, but never spend more than $30 on any Baofeng model.

     I've heard good things about the baofeng bf-f8hp... assuming you dont get a counterfeit shipped to you. any opinion on that one?
