     @Epsi from what I gathered, someone set their username as a racial slur and the devs didn't address it quick enough cause they weren't sure what their policy will be
     
     now the Bluesky devs have implemented a policy that this is bannable as harassment
     
     but now everyone wants like a more long term solution like having a trust and safety team but is being fairly harassy about it

     It doesn't federate because the protocol isn't done yet, and it will federate later with the ability to spin up Bluesky instances

     @eris@akko.disqordia.space There is a big problem with the twitter-brained type of groups where they will engage in very harassy ways and then wonder why no one wants to engage with them without a PR team.
     
     At the same time, bluesky shoulda predicted that would happen. But they ALSO said they have a less involved moderation strategy as well.
     
     To me I'm like, yeah bluesky was dumb but at the same time what do you expect?

     @rees @eris @sun_eater @Epsi Bluesky and Threads exist for these reasons:
     
     1. tell regulators that they cannot be responsible for moderation or top-down regulator control of content because of the nature of decentralized networking.
     2. retain vestigial/Potemkin village federation so they can tell EU regulators that they have made a best-effort attempt at complying with messaging interoperability rules.
     
     These are all lies for multiple reasons for example Bluesky has at least two chokepoints that would enable them to control the entire network (biggest is placeholder server, look it up) and actual decentralization would destroy their ability to track users and serve ads, which obviously can never happen so absolutely none of this shit is real/good-faith.
