The politics of “if we want change, contact your eLeCtEd oFfIcIaAls” is actually symptomatic of one's alienation from power. Similarly, the politics of “yOu sHoUlD rUn fOr oFfICe” is defined by the very same alienation. Why is it we have to turn to “representatives” who don't represent us or become “representatives” ourselves in order to enact social change? Why is it do we need specialists or need to become specialists to do good? We are alienated from the political sphere just as we are alienated in the economic sphere.
