This might seem obvious, but I'm a big fan of instances that are culturally or geographically centred because it makes moderation way fucking easier.
I think it might be the single best thing about decentralised social media.
The people moderating the posts on mastodon.ie know exactly what bigotry looks like here. And that matters a lot. UK instances can probably smell TERFspeak a million miles away while it would fly under the radar elsewhere.
