@shibao @blaaablaaaa Taking camping gear camping only wears it out. Letting it sit in your closet is more economical. #finance

@yockeypuck @blaaablaaaa There's also this strange subculture of people who horde hiking/camping gear and gadgets but literally never use it outside of their home.
I had a friend like this, I was helping clean out his room last week since he's in some deep legal shit and won't be around for some time. All this camping gear, too much for one man to even carry, never used.
Every time I suggested we go out and do something he'd find an excuse to just stay home, get drunk and watch an endless loop of youtube meme compilations. For years.

@shibao @blaaablaaaa Also, my brother in Christ, people go solo camping all the time, it's not dangerous, nobody thinks "I better bring a satellite messenger when I go for a run!" even though that's way more likely to kill you.

@yockeypuck @shibao @blaaablaaaa I mean, do what people did before, tell people where you are expected to be and expected to return, then if anything goes wrong, they can go off that.
