There are arguments for algorithms yeah. One brought up pixiv which recommends you stuff based on tags and stuff (dunno exactly) or spotify being pretty nice with recommending stuff. So an algorithm has not to be inherently bad, but as is custom with twitter I don't see a "good" algo happen.
They make money by keeping you "engaged" so they enrage you.
