@evacide I'm frequently reminded of Dunbar's number. "Social media" has consumed most of that limited capacity of our brains, with connections to people you've never met in person, but still allocate brain-space for.
Relatives are a social circle that's real. Friends from school are a real social circle. My mother's even organized reunions reconnecting people from around the world using Facebook.
**I** have no interest in Facebook, but I understand why some might. It's a valuable tool.
