   I have serious issues with YouTube comments: they are used to spread so much misinformation and lies.

   For example, for my latest video, many people have said that I am lying about emergency vehicles being able to go through the knip. Even though I literally SHOW FOOTAGE of emergency vehicles going through the knip.

   This is a common lie being told about the project online.

   But here's the problem ... 🧵

     @notjustbikes It's almost as if the multi billion dollar corporation that profits from your hard work creating content on their platform should do something about this… If only we lived in a world where they cared about not helping nazis.

     And to be clear, lying about the knip is a very minor issue. It hurts my reputation if people think I'm lying, but at the end of the day, it doesn't matter.

     What DOES happen though is that literal neo-nazis and conspiracy theorists routinely try to use my comments section to spread lies and hate.

     And that's really not cool.

     Again, they don't want free speech: they want free access to my audience to spread their lies and hate.

     So after I correct a few people, I start holding back any other messages (I leave them in "Held for Review" as they all go there).

     Is this "censorship" or "violating free speech"? No, of course not, but that is obviously what I'm accused of.

     My issue is this: these people don't want "free speech". They can get that anywhere. What they want is free access to spread their lies to my audience.

     And that I have an issue with.

     I respond, but my response is lost in a flood of comments saying things like "Yes! Now I don't need to watch the video! I know this lying leftist is a lying liar!"

     And even when responding, it's basically impossible to keep up with the wrong (purposefully lying?) comments anyway. I can't spend that much time responding, even when I'm literally cut-and-pasting responses. And is this how I want to spend my time?

     Somebody posts a longwinded comment saying that my research is flawed and I am biased because I said emergency vehicles can pass through.

     Fine. People can say whatever shit they want.

     But then that comment gets upvoted by the hundreds as "proof" that I'm lying and my video is poorly researched.

     Again, I LITERALLY SHOW EMERGENCY VEHICLES GOING THROUGH and their comment is wrong.

     But now there's a highly-upvoted comment with wrong information, that also smears my reputation.
