     You can find trending things on the website at the link on the right side of the screen called # Explore

     You can find trending things on the official app by clicking the magnifying glass 🔍 and leaving the search box blank.

     Third party apps also have trending things but with various different interfaces to find them.

     To post links, just put the link in your post. Remember to include https:// at the beginning so that the link is clickable.

     Im trying to find trending things, news stories, political stuff, entertainment film topics etc. how do you post links? Can you do gifs etc? How do you change servers & so on.
     I really need to #RTFM I suspect!

     You can add gifs either by attaching a GIF file using the same method you attach images, or by using a GIF picker on some phone keyboards, or by pasting the link to a GIF on Giphy or similar services (GIF links are embedded automatically.)

     You can change servers by doing these steps, but it's only worth doing them if you have followers you want to carry with you to the new account: https://fedi.tips/transferring-your-mastodon-account-to-another-server/
