   Are you being mentioned in a thread that you don't want to take part in?

   You can mute conversations on Mastodon:

   1. Log in through your server’s website, or some apps also support thread muting
   2. Go to one of your posts in the thread you want to mute
   3. Click ⋯ and select Mute Conversation
   4. If you haven’t posted in the thread, go to a post in the thread where you were mentioned, then select ⋯ and Mute Conversation

   If you change your mind, do the same thing but select Unmute Conversation.

     p.s. Apologies to people in a thread I took part in where they got a lot of notifications. Sorry about that.

     I do try to unmention people who ask, but the above procedure is useful for situations where people carry on mentioning you regardless.

     @feditips on the blue bird if someone liked simething you said you got a notification then you could click to see that post. I don't seem to be able to do that here. What am I missing?

     You still have that here, if someone favourites your post you should be getting a notification about it. Have you looked in the notifications column? (The one with the bell 🔔 )

     It's possible to switch off notifications for favourites, do you think you might have done that?

     The notification should say "x favourited your post" and then the post below it.

     Do you have notifications in "mentions" mode rather than "all", at the top of the column?

     @feditips i get the notification but I can't see WHAT they liked and I post several things so not sure which one. I know it is me...

     Try clicking the "All" tab at the top of the notifications column.

     I just favourited your reply, you should see my favouriting there.

     I'm not sure what is going on on your server, but the option should appear in the thread itself (see screenshot).

     You shouldn't need to go to notifications.

     @feditips Important Note: (at least for me in Fosstodon) this has to be done from your notifications. The option does not appear in the thread itself.

     Yeah, there seems to be some kind of bug and/or bad design choice that makes it not visible some of the time. I can't see the option on your post either.

     Can you see it on your own post in the thread?

     Yeah, it should be on any post in the thread but isn't :(

     It looks like someone reported this as a bug almost a year ago but it is still unfixed:

     https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/18873

     I've given it a thumbs up and comment in case that helps get it in front of a developer's eyes.
