   Reddit has many subs where people post photos and users rate them 1-10 on attractiveness. Pretty shallow but whatever. r/TrueRateMe takes this to the next level, if you don't follow their "objective" rules about beauty and "over-rate" more than 2 women you get permabanned.

   That's correct, you must conform your ideas to the formula!

   What the point of all this is? Beyond me.

   Yeah... reddit didn't need this attention at this moment. Being in my 40s I can find this amusing HOWEVER--

     If It were up to me? they should be age restricted to 25+ (yes 25) This is more harmful than the weirdest porn.

     Also, they need to be strict verifying photos posted are with the person't permission -- (done with people holding notes in the photo that kind of thing) These groups do have proof of identity requirements... now. Didn't always.

     Sounds like so much work so probably just kick them off of any "mainstream" platform. They can go back to the chans and dark web with this.

     @futurebird The whole creepy incel/PUA subculture is absolutely obsessed with "objective" laws of human desirability, masculinity, femininity, etc. that are based on physical measurements and sound straight out of some 19th-century text on physiognomy. There seem to be a lot of young men who are attracted to this stuff as an explanation for why they have trouble fitting into the world.

     What it all reminds me of is a guy on my first-year college dormitory floor who was preoccupied with making these numerical rankings of how cool or extroverted or "alpha" all of the boys on the floor were. I could see him becoming a menace on the Internet but he didn't quite have it at the time.

     When I was a teen and really even in to my early 20s a kind of literal minded hard headedness made me very interested in "objective" things.

     I think for young people who aren't as ... gifted in emotional intelligence this is an easy trap to fall into. The kind of young people who insist that every problem must have a single best solution. That was me.

     It's not a very healthy mindset.

     These kind of online spaces are harmful to those not sophisticated enough to recognize how funny it is.
