Interesting when a big (uh, fairly big?) instance head rolls out the red carpet for Meta, signs an NDA, then complains about people using pfps that are of "cats, princesses and videogame characters"
Orly?
Cause I only went anonymous after years of doxxing attempts and threats on FB. Tried to do it on FB, and they demanded my birth certificate, so between that and getting suspended over and over again for reporting full-blown nazi terrorist orgs on there, I got the hell outta there.
Which is how I ended up on Twitter years ago.
Then that site turned to shit (okay, shittier), so I ended up here last year.
Now the Zuckmobile is parked outside and do you think that means I'm in *any* way inclined to take a big ol selfie and put my name and address up there?
Fuck no.
Whatever you do with your account is your business, btw, not mine. I'm just speaking about me here.
The point is, if you want people to feel safer, then be a safe person to be around. That's a good ethic online and offline.
And if you're running an instance and you want transparency, but your business dealings are as transparent as mud, don't complain when everybody's avi is suddenly Princess Reactive Armor, Splodgy The Cat or, I dunno, a little green frog or some shit.
