@dfraser you can laugh but i can actually do that, or make a light match the levels present in the printer, although converting subtractive CYMK into additive RGB is gonna be complete shit, especially since despite lights being RGBWW they only let me either set RGB or WW (white light temperature) but not both.

Still though it can be useful for making an automation to notify me when it's time to refill the ink

@hj obviously you need an automation to set your RGB lights to the colour of greatest need

@dfraser can't wait for HA to discover the (neighbor's) bluetooth literal fucking machine.

Lighting color models are somewhat a pain but what's worse is that ye typical RGB diodes seemingly are never calibrated and don't follow any standards. Like setting RGB lighting on a keyboard you want to get teal light but it's always either too green or too blue, it never matches the color on your screen which is supposed to be sRGB. You'd think Hue lights would be better since they let you specify color in XY colorspace but somehow sRGB -> XY -> RGB again doesn't end up as what you'd expect.

Personally I prefer LCh but it's mostly great for selecting color and working with palettes, but it too has flaws, especially in brown/orange segment.

@hj yess I love HA but the lighting colour models have always been a bit of a pain. It gets even sketchier when you try to control them from the homekit bridge 😂 it IS fun tho! HA discovered my neighbour’s bluetooth toothbrush recently
