   >the 1890s, an upper-class version of it.
   >the 1920s, a bourgeois version of it.
   >a blow-out period after the excesses and privations of the Great War and thereafter.
   
   This all reached a crescendo at/around the 1960s when these mass counter-cultural energies all simultaneously became bourgeois in orientation while also becoming proletarianized.

     Pound was such an endearing genius that his many friends that hailed from from almost all schools of political thought (Hemingway was Anti Hitler, Bernard Shaw was an Axis sympathizing Stalinist etc) refused to throw him under the bus and rallied for his release from Prison.
     
     Really drove our friends in the small hats up a fucking wall (and still does so today).
