if it was another architecture that had done this, i would hate that one instead-

my gripe is, digital identity is important, we need to learn not letting it be privatized my two mega-corporations, it is a really dangerous path for the future
the PC/mac part of the industry at least allow for a user what ownership of your digital footprint is, on the phone market this is straight up impossible -

joshie 🏳️🌈 (6a62@raru.re)'s status on Wednesday, 21-Jun-2023 04:56:39 JST joshie 🏳️🌈 @NeonPurpleStar also the majority of the mobile market ( and the pre-smartphone PDA market ) was arm based anyway, going back to 90s nokias and psion PDAs
android/iOS didn’t have much to do with it imo

well, yes, but past 2010 everyone seems to be pushing for every digital need to fulfilled a phone
i am just not okay with that, the benevolent industry of phone makers + telecom providers is not a group i trust for their "philanthropic" nature
telecom providers are like the opec+ of technology -

joshie 🏳️🌈 (6a62@raru.re)'s status on Wednesday, 21-Jun-2023 05:11:57 JST joshie 🏳️🌈 @NeonPurpleStar I agree, but that problem arises from those two computing platforms arising from very different places
computers started as scientific and engineering tools, but phones started as basic appliances
computers went down-market into personal computers and brought the freedom and power with them. phones went up-market and brought immense compute power to a locked down home appliance
