Artists: Don't tie your sense of self-worth directly to your creative output. Life is so much larger than just art.
Coming to terms with the truth that you don't have to be creating all the time or else you're worthless is actually a complicated lie you've bought into that is, as usual, rooted in capitalism.
This has been the hardest lesson of my 41 years so far, and I have not yet really learned it, because it yet remains the deepest and darkest source of my recurrent struggle with despair.
It is ok to NOT be creative. It is ok to live your life simply enjoying things without producing them, or innovating, or "disrupting" industries or whatever.
The purpose of life is probably simply to live it, which is to say: To share. To help. To love.
You don't have to be exceptional. You don't have to struggle for validation.
You are already beautiful. At least, I think so.
