The debate on "proprietary softwares are better than open-source softwares" is the same as "steel is heavier than feathers".
They are both a kilogram.

@Humpleupagus In the end that's not even the point. Try stuff, you want to try proprietary? Try it. You heard about an open source alternative? Try it. People like this one rather that this one? Try it. Find the one you're comfortable with and roll with it.
The tool doesn't make the result, people can do way better on GIMP than some do on Photoshop, others make amazing music with Tracktion and LNX while others are just chilling on FL Studio or Ableton.
Nobody cares as long as you are comfortable working or creating and that you're proud of the thing you made.
Tools are temporary and at one point they'll get replaced by other tools that will get the job done easier, the only thing that matters for you are the skills you're learning and if the result you produced makes you proud or showed you issues you need to work on or stuff you can improve upon.
But then again I 100% agree with you, when I see the powerpoints or the specs they make at my work, they could do exactly the same with libre office without having to pay extra money and extra data to Microsoft's bloated suite.
Just to be clear I was shitposting at first, but it doesn't hurt to give an honest opinion afterwards.
