   A note to US speakers. The rest of the English speaking world has no idea what a 'sophomore' is (and no interest in having it explained).

   Related: the relationship between 'college' and 'university' in the US is similarly unique, and incomprehensible in the Bologna Process world.

     in US parlance, college has undergraduate degrees (Bachelor's) and university has graduate (Master's, Doctoral)...

     @kaia @glent @chjara not quite. In US parlance, Universities are a composition of colleges. I went to Northeastern University, but my degree is from Khoury College of Computer Sciences. I attended classes from other colleges in the NU umbrella - for example, College of Arts, Media, and Design.

     If I went back to Northeastern for a graduate Computer Science degree, I would still be a student at Khoury - colleges still run the graduate programs.
