   I've been wanting to put some of my thoughts into words around Owncast and the Fediverse for some time, and when @captaincalliope opened a thread discussing it, it was a good time for me to clarify some things.
   
   It's only fair to share this wider, since this is the state of things with regards to Owncast and who's actually using it, and for what.
