They felt like fairly standard hatchets. I figured out early on I wasn't going to get my wrist to stay still for the standard throw, so when the chap instructing us said the backwards throw was all wrist, I knew that'd be my thing.

Ours had smaller axes and throwing stars, too, which were a lot of fun

Throwing knives, though, were awesome. I even got decent at doing two at once!
