   @benhamill I'd say Mattermost might be the one most up your alley - it's basically Slack But Self-hosted and Open Source.

     Fediverse, help me out. If I wanted to host a chat... thing... for many people. With different channels and user pfps and emoji and shit. But outside corporate control. What are my good options? Note: I don't need federated anything. I am happy to ask people to sign up for my thing specifically and have the account unlinked to other identities.
