Earlier today I was like, "Ah, I'm sure there's an overestimation of the expected exodus from Reddit to stuff like Lemmy and Kbin." This evening, I thought I'd actually take a look at the latter two and check, and... Holy shit. It's happening. But as we know from that whole Twitter deal late last year, whether it sustains is another thing entirely. So it's still useful to manage expectations. After all, it's lots of individuals merely switching up a social media site, not getting a tattoo. Guess we'll have to wait and see. #Reddit #Lemmy #Kbin #Twitter

The network effect isn't quite as strong as small communities could move over one at a time. There's a whole cottage industry of turning subreddits into startups.
