   Somehow the supermarket self checkout terminal is a worse experience than the cranky elderly checkout lady who keeps telling me to use the self checkout terminal.

     advantage of living in a small town: the cashiers aren’t cranky and there is no such thing as self-checkout

     @Polychrome Oh god, same here. Its not only slower, but also just more painful. Oh, you want to pay with physical money? You gotta ask the clerk for the help anyway, to pay. Like... just pain.
