    @feditips Pretty new to the whole fediverse thing; think you could explain the difference between "favorites" and "boosts" on kbin? When I was on Lemmy (which I am no longer after seeing an old post of yours), most people seemed to be "up voting" posts or comments. On kbin, I mostly see favorites and less up votes, or boosts.

    Finding my kbin account through Mastodon has shown these posts that I have up voted on kbin to be boosted like I "retweeted" them. Haha I hope this makes sense!

      Umm... I think @ernest might be able to give most accurate reply?

      Different Fedi server types can present the same ActivityPub actions in different ways. What appears to be an upvote on Kbin might be a boost on Mastodon, but they would be the same action within the ActivityPub protocol (which is the technical standard servers use to communicate to each other on the Fediverse).

      There's a similar thing on PeerTube where an account's channels on PT are presented as groups on Mastodon.

      @feditips@mstdn.social @Teali0@mastodon.social @ernest@kbin.social

      In the "main" branch of kbin (which kbin.social is running), contrary to Lemmy, Favorites are the same in kbin as they are on other platforms, but upvotes in kbin are boosts.

      However, as of a commit to the dev branch in the last few hours for kbin, favorites and boosts are getting reversed to match more of what Lemmy does: Upvotes are favorites and boosts will be a separate button under the post/article/link/etc.

      So, to summarize:

      Kbin Main code (kbin.social and most others)
      Upvotes = boost
      Favorites = Favorites

      Kbin Develop branch (test instances, independent instances)
      Upvotes = favorite
      Boost = Boost
