It wasn't really designed for running with a desktop in mind. You'll end up with a lot of overhead that is taxing on your RAM unless you have plenty to give it. BTRFS while it is pretty jank when you go beyond file system compression, subvolumes, and snapshots is probably far better suited for the job as a file system used on a desktop.
