    @Bandrew @CSB I'm not a fan because to me it lacks sharpness and clarity. Although if you are going for the NPR anechoic chamber type sound those features are exactly what makes it work.

      @Bandrew

      wow, even despite the need to use strong amplifiers because it provides weak signal!

      @CSB Yeah. I love how it sounds on my voice. IMO it fits because it smooths out the harshness in how I talk. I'm also kind of a loud talker so I don't have as many issues with a quiet signal.

      I get why people dislike it though because it is quiet and it isn't super detailed sounding. I prefer smoother mics that are easier to listen to.

      @CSB If I didn’t feel the need to use the mics I reviewed on my show, I’d still be using the SM7b.

      LOL: couple years ago @Bandrew also used Shure SM7b, nowadays he uses divergent microphones:

      @CSB Well you can turn up any frequency you want, so that's not a problem. But to describe the character of a microphone requires a more vague description. Maybe sharpness and clarity isn't the best choice of words. What I hear with the SM7B is it lacks a certain "liveness" and airy feel. It's like a modern CGI cartoon. smooth round faces with no character, no grain, no texture.

      @CSB These differences are almost at a subconcious level. They are there, but even when doing an A/B test you're probably not going to care. But after listening for a long time you get a feel for the character. When it comes to the SM7B the biggest difference I hear is when it's used to mic electric guitars. Especially with lots of distortion.
