I admit it was pretty funny to let helene take a look at what older pelmora instances have to deal with, including it retrying over and over to send posts to instance that haven't been federating since I myself set up this instance
- Hélène likes this.

@solidsanek "why do you still have neckbeard.xyz activities in your job queue"
-

@solidsanek honestly I still don't know if I should be impressed that Pleroma still works even like this or disappointed in the state the codebase is in
maybe both
25 million rows though wtf seriously

@NeonPurpleStar @solidsanek depends on "what" really
we could definitely have an oban job for an expiry time on remote activities and local ones
but oban seems to be terrible and the delivery queue seems to barely work, so it piles up way too much

@NeonPurpleStar @helene to be honest as long as it doesn't have a strong impact on the instance, I'm okay with keeping things as is if it helps debugging certain issues and discover what needs to be fixed in pleroma's codebase

@NeonPurpleStar @helene by this I mean that my instance is older and somewhat large, so it helps spotting issues that only happens with a certain traffic or from things piling up for so long (like the rate limiter breaking threads when an instance federates with a lot of other ones)

@solidsanek @NeonPurpleStar no the rate limiter thing happens mostly on smaller instances, mostly single-user :cirnoHeh: I'll handle that next

@solidsanek @helene
Well, I have never been an admin of a website, so I am already pushin the limit by giving advice.
But I also love the pleroma project and would like to find ways to contribute to it, so I understand your mentality.
