   Every account on here has an account address which looks something like this:

   @ (USERNAME) @ (SERVER NAME)

   All accounts on all server types have unique addresses like this. They are the surest way to make sure you're following the right account.

   If you paste an account address into the search box, it will make that account's profile appear. This works for all accounts from all server types, even accounts that your server hasn't noticed yet.

     p.s. If you want to try this out, have a look at the @FediFollows website which is full of Fediverse account addresses:

     ➡️ https://fedi.directory

     You can follow any of these by copying and pasting the addresses into the search box on your server's website or your app.

     @feditips but remember, if the browser window is too narrow there is no search field, nor any sign of one existing anywhere. My experience finding people I knew the exact details of was miserable until I found out about the hidden search field

     The search field in the mobile browser is hidden behind the # icon.

     I agree it's not a good way of doing it, but it's there.
