apparently digikam can automatically embed text in your image metadata using OCR. This is a new era for meme folders

Macs and iOS have that, it’s super helpful. You can also select text in images and videos.

I have a 2014 iMac running Ventura with opencore legacy patcher. It runs it as good as big sur hardware wise though each update something can break and you have to wait for the patcher to be updated to install updates. What I'm trying to say there no reason for apple to drop support for old macs so fast. iPhones and iPads gets long support but it's infuriating that they force people to buy new macs with so short updates cycles with the amount of obsolete garbage it creates for no reason other than to make more money. They are rich enough maybe share some of the lot with customers.

I agree, I don’t understand why they do that. But otoh, how many ppl are using 10 year old computers? I dunno.

It works great besides you have to use the machine until it causes deficiencies in its usability. You aren't going to play games on a mac anyway most likely. Safari opens in 4 seconds on this 2014 iMac running Ventura with the patcher. Many open applications and no hang ups. The only problem is with hardware decoding but that's because of using a patcher. Apple could install Ventura by default on this Mac with the requirement of 8 gb ram and you would need a SSD of course. Luckily it came as a Fusion Drive system when I bought it with SSD system drive.

I still have a 10 year old laptop that's pretty good.
