@atomicpoet I'm not a fan of saying anyone is the bad guys.
I look at it more like this - If Mozilla, Tumblr and Meta and all of us "Indy" folks all can talk over ActivityPub - This is more like "Mission Accomplished".

@atomicpoet @supernovae yeah they're tooooootally not gonna embrace, extend, and extinguish another open protocol. that could never happen twice. three times. four times, if you count "ruining the entire web" as one thing.
this is straight up bad news. if i wanted Meta to store everything i ever touched and use it to show ads to me and everyone i talk to, i'd still be on Facebook.
I see it as an opportunity, If we can't shine against what you describe then most people aren't interested in what we're cooking.
Right now our voice is limited to ~ .0001% of the internet - if we can reach a broader audience - I'm all for it.
@supernovae @vyr @atomicpoet I like it here precisely because not everyone is here. Makes it a nice, civilized place, mostly.
@lizzard @vyr @atomicpoet I like it here, but not because it’s exclusive. The world is full of amazing people and we haven’t even scratched the surface of having them here.
@supernovae @vyr @atomicpoet it's not exclusive in any way, though. Just small.
@lizzard @vyr @atomicpoet well, if we suggest it has to remain small how is that not exclusive? I think we’re missing a lot of culture and variety still.
