   @feditips When I first signed on to Mastodon, I decided I wanted to follow two instances but couldn't find a way to do that with a single account so I ended up creating two accounts, then I switch between them. I'd really rather have just one account, though. Is there a way to accomplish this with a single account or was I correct to go with two?

     Umm... what you do mean by "following instances"?

     You can follow accounts, but you can't follow instances?

     Ah, the Local timeline you mean?

     You can view Local timelines for some instances without joining them:

     https://growyourown.services/how-to-use-mastodon-and-the-fediverse-advanced-tips/#HowDoIBrowseTheLocalTimelineOnAnotherServer

     ...and if there are accounts you want to follow from that server, you can follow them from your own server.

     There's a feature request on the Mastodon github which I think is basically what you want?

     If you're comfortable using Github, give it a thumbs up to let developers know you want it?
