@Moon @a1ba I caught the tail end of X11R4, used it with twm on SunOS 4.1.2. That said, even my first Linux, SLS 1.2, came with Xfree86 of some sort. And of course the X11R5 took over Sun by that time. From what I heard, the X10 was significantly different from what's normal nowadays. The photo in Encyclopedia Britannica article about Sun is about the only remaining screencap. Its stark nature and weird OSD bar is on display there.

@zaitcev @a1ba My first X was a proprietary one that ran faster and let you detach windows and reattach them on a different machine without the application closing. I don't remember the name.
