   Fifteen years ago tomorrow I published the first post on the fediverse.

   It's still visible on Identi.ca today, although the URL format changed a few years ago, and the redirect plugin stopped working a few years after that. 🫤

   Thanks to everyone who made identi.ca a great place to be, and thanks to everyone who's expanded the fediverse since then.

   Someday soon-ish I'd like to have identi.ca working with ActivityPub. When I get the time for it!

     @evan I can’t believe that identi.ca is 15 years old! This was OpenMicroBlogging times, wasn’t it? I think OStatus was 2010.

     @evan Bet this original post is still public, readable, and working FAR after the first proprietary tweet and the first FB or IG post is just in some internet archive and functionally only readable there.

     One thing that's interesting is that this post might not be "the first post on the fediverse" in the future.

     If tumblr joins, there are a few posts there from before 2008, so we could say they're the first posts.

     There might already be some AP-enabled WordPress blogs with posts earlier than this one.

     That might not be a fair way to measure, but it's definitely interesting to think about.

     @evan oh my god, I clicked and then I got a deja vu from that old profile picture. I never really knew who you were or what exactly you did but I always saw your posts pop up on identi.ca back then and I probably saw it a hundred times. You’re like the MySpace Tom of the Fediverse!

     Also, PubSubHubbub, RSSCloud, Salmon, and Activity Streams are all very important parts of the story!

     Another note is that the first Website http://info.cern.ch/ was launched on August 6, 1991.

     https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_World_Wide_Web?wprov=sfla1

     That means it was about 17 years from the first Web site to the first social Web post.

     So, not quite half before, half after, but we'll be there in 2025.
