   I remember reading somewhere about how Zeppelins didn't take off due to an Anglo conspiracy to hobble nascent German airship industry and ensure that planes would become the dominant means of international travel. I don't know if this is true, but I definitely want airships to return.

     The tiniest of research into airships shows that they are massively inferior to aeroplanes in almost every single way, except for looking cooler.

     The only place airships are superior to other aircraft are in high endurance loitering aerial operations (hanging out in one place all day); This happens to be a function that is easily and more effectively performed in a much safer manner by unmanned systems; this means airships are the inferior choice even for the one thing they excel at (but they do look very cool).
