   For me personally I just find it silly, in an endearing way. It gives this place a “let loose” vibe that so many sites are missing and it’s comforting I guess. It makes other sites feel really serious and just not that fun in comparison. It’s a unique form of expression you don’t get elsewhere.
   
   I get why it’s not for everyone and it’s good that there’s a play button and ways to disable it entirely, but I personally find it sweet that we can make dumb little emoji animations in our timeline because why not! As a tinkerer (especially one who likes to do things with very limited mediums) it’s something I’ll probably mess around with pretty often lol it’s the same reason I got into programming Discord bots and now that’s my most prevalent hobby—not that dumb MFM animations will ever be on that level but that same spark is there imo
