   I'm going to keep this vague to preserve the person's privacy, but there's a very complex algorithm in an open source OS that was designed with the aid of electroshock therapy. I only know of one other person aware of it.
   
   The person that designed it claimed that self therapy before programming sessions helped them tremendously with the math involved.

     @ki never tried it myself at the same time but for real creative things (non-work maybe?) I can see where psychoactives and programming might be a good fit

     I'm really sceptical about this "trend" (I know it's not a new thing but it gains popularity again)... in my opinion "psychedelics" and work-related phrases do not belong in the same sentence. Work has the potential to put so much pressure on people and any psycho-active drug (including even caffeine) can have a disastrous effects under pressure.
