    If the metric known as “IQ” had real utility, wouldn’t we be able to ask and answer questions like

    “What minimum IQ is necessary for an individual to do _______?”

      @GMOdysseys yes, people below an IQ of I think 86 can't be trained to do anything in the army.

      @Iamthebammbamm

      “Can’t be trained” because the army wont train them?

      Also, I love that the cutoff number is 86 😂

      @GMOdysseys @Iamthebammbamm no, because they literally can't be trained. In the same way you can't teach a 2yo to play chess.

      @GMOdysseys lol, the army has studied this extensively and has a lower IQ cutoff for people who can't do shit

      @Iamthebammbamm and has that policy produced measurable outcomes?

      Even if the 2yo has an IQ of 87?

      @GMOdysseys @Iamthebammbamm IQ is age adjusted. So yeah. Kid could have an IQ of 150, they still won't be able to remember anything you tell them.

      @DF15 @ned

      I heard that an IQ of 145+ is required to be able to be able to ask the question of whether or not IQ is an overly-simplistic metric and whether or not it actually supports a model that can make predictions about individuals or populations.

      @GMOdysseys Conversations in themselves can perform as IQ tests. It's been studied many times that higher IQ individuals can have a harder time communicating with lower IQ individuals and it is recommended to refrain from in depth conversation with individuals who could be more than 15+ IQ points off of yourself.

      As someone who scored over a 130 on IQ tests 3 times whether that means anything or not, conversing with some people can be impossible as with logic outside of binary thought

      @DF15 @GMOdysseys >logic outside of binary thought.

      Formal logic is mostly binary thought.
