But if they do it conditionally it's an indication they're smart more than they're ethical. Google keeps Chromium open source for leverage, because they understand the influence it gives them over other companies and the web. Facebook is just behind the curve and waking up to it.

     It just makes troubleshooting and support much better overall.
     You don't have to worry about the software going completely kaput, as long as you have an active community.
