    Actual poll: overwhelming majorities support laws prohibiting discrimination against trans people.

    WaPo headline and reporter's tweet: "Most Americans support anti-trans policies favored by GOP."

    Just straight-up lying.

      @RadicalRuss @maxkennerly
      If a reporter’s writing…

      1. creates in readers an understanding that is factually incorrect (“Most Americans favor the anti-trans stance of the GOP” ← poll shows the opposite!), but

      2. it is possible to consider the writing correct via some non-obvious technicality and close parsing (“looking only at poll questions that exactly match actual GOP •bills• introduced, not just •rhetoric•”)

      …then the statement is a lie.

      Lying via technicality is still lying.

      @maxkennerly Unless one looks at the actual proposals currently floated by the GOP (no trans in girls sports, no trans health care for minors), which majorities are in agreement with, and one realizes the anti-trans-discrimination policies majorities oppose in this poll (banning trans in military, schools, workplace) aren't being pursued by the GOP.

      You're baiting-and-switching.
